Elemi is the soft resin of a tall Philippine tree. It is the brightest of the resins: lemon peel and pepper over a gentle incense, with a fennel-like sweetness that comes from elemicin. It brings resinous lift to citrus openings and incense accords.
The oil is mostly limonene and phellandrene, with elemol giving its woody body. The resinoid keeps more of the incense and holds it longer.
This page is the atlas door to elemi. The entries listed beside it go deeper: the oil and the resinoid, elemol and elemicin.
