Operanide is a heptamethyl benzodioxole amber material. It is softer than Ambroxan: creamy and powdery, with a gourmand roundness that sits well with vanilla and tonka. It gives amber bases a velvety finish.

Operanide is a synthetic material; PubChem gives its IUPAC name as 2,2,6,6,7,8,8-heptamethyl-4,5,7,8b-tetrahydro-3aH-cyclopenta[g][1,3]benzodioxole. Formula C17H28O2, molecular weight 264.4. The atlas files it under Amber; its office is fixative and its place is the drydown.
